Description
WSB Bubble Floats – Medium (30mm)
WSB Bubble Floats are clear, round floats, here in the medium 30mm size, supplied two to a packet. Bubble floats are a simple, versatile bit of tackle that lets you cast light baits and small lures much further than you could on their own, while keeping them up in the water.
Because they are clear, they are far less obvious to fish than a brightly coloured float, which is a real advantage when fishing on or near the surface for wary fish. The 30mm medium size gives a good balance of casting weight and buoyancy for general surface work.
How they work
A bubble float adds casting weight to a set-up that would otherwise be too light to cast, such as a single piece of bread crust, a floating pellet, a small fly or a tiny lure. Many bubble floats can also be part-filled with water to add extra weight while still floating, letting you adjust how far they cast and how high they sit; check how your floats open before trying this. The round shape sits steadily on the surface and gives clear bite indication when a fish takes.
Ways to use them
At 30mm the medium bubble float casts a good distance and supports slightly larger baits, making it a good choice for surface fishing for carp and rudd with bread crust or floating pellets, and for presenting small lures or flies to mackerel, garfish and other fish near the surface at sea. It is also useful for drifting a bait out on the wind.
Key features
- Clear, round bubble float design
- Medium size: 30mm
- Low visibility on or near the surface
- Adds casting weight for light baits and lures
- Suits surface fishing and light lure presentations
- 2 floats per packet
What’s in the box
- 2 x WSB clear round bubble floats, 30mm
Compatibility
Use on spinning, float or light lure rods with line suited to the target species. A swivel and a hooklength below the float help prevent line twist and allow you to set the bait at the right distance from the float. A smaller 25mm size is also available for lighter, more delicate presentations.
Care and maintenance
Floats last much longer if they are kept in a dedicated float box or tube rather than loose in a bag, where tips can be snapped and bodies scratched. Rinse off mud and weed after a session and let them dry before packing them away. Check the attachment eye or stem for cracks from time to time, and touch up a faded tip with a little float paint if needed so it stays easy to see.
Who is it for?
For anglers who enjoy surface fishing for carp and rudd, and for sea and lure anglers who want to cast small baits, flies or lures further than they could on their own.
Please note: Hooks, line and bait are not included.
