Description
ZTac Tactical Throat Mic (Black)
The ZTac Tactical Throat Mic is a radio microphone for airsoft and milsim, finished in black. A throat microphone sits against your neck and picks up your voice from the vibrations of your throat rather than from the air, so it can be clearer than a standard mic when you are breathing hard or surrounded by noise. It also leaves your mouth and face free for a mask or shemagh.
Z-Tactical (zTac) produces a large range of tactical headsets, PTT units and radio accessories for airsoft and milsim players. A throat mic is a lightweight, low-profile way to add radio communication to your loadout, and it suits team leaders, snipers and anyone who wants to talk to their team without a bulky headset. The black version blends with most loadouts and is the usual choice for urban, police-style and black kit.
How it works
The throat mic is worn on a band around the neck, with the microphone pads resting either side of the voice box. When you speak, the pads pick up the vibrations and send them to your radio. Most throat mic sets also have an earpiece so you can hear incoming traffic; check the product images for the earpiece type and the plug on the end of the lead.
Because the pads read vibration directly, background noise such as wind, gunfire from nearby replicas or pyro is far less noticeable to the person listening. You may need to speak a little more slowly and clearly than usual, and it is worth testing different pad positions to find the clearest setting.
On the field
Fit the band so it is snug but comfortable, and route the cable under your clothing or along your rig so it does not snag on branches. Run a radio check with your team before the game starts, and keep transmissions short and clear.

Compatibility
Radios use different connectors (for example Kenwood/Baofeng 2-pin, Motorola, Icom or Midland). Our listing does not state the connector on this mic or whether it needs a separate PTT unit, so check the plug in the product images against your radio, or ask us before ordering. Radio not included.
Care and maintenance
Disconnect the mic from your radio after use and store it somewhere dry. Wipe the neck band and earpiece with a slightly damp cloth to remove sweat, then let them dry before packing them away.
Never pull on the cable to unplug it; hold the plug instead. Check cables and connectors for cuts, kinks or corrosion from time to time, and keep plugs free of dirt and moisture.
