Description
Golden Eagle M1887 Long Gas Shell Ejecting Shotgun (Faux Wood – 8703 – Blue)
The Golden Eagle M1887 Long (model 8703) is a gas-powered, shell-ejecting replica of the classic Winchester-pattern lever-action shotgun, with faux wood furniture and a blue finish. Work the lever and the spent shell flies out of the action as the next one is loaded, just as on the real thing, which makes this one of the most entertaining replicas you can shoot.
The M1887 is famous from Western films and from its one-handed spin-cocking appearance in science fiction cinema, and Golden Eagle’s replica brings all of that character to the field. This is the long version, the full-length model in Golden Eagle’s M1887 range, which also includes short and medium versions. The blue finish is the UK coloured version, so it is clearly marked out as a replica.
How it works
Golden Eagle’s M1887 replicas run on airsoft green gas held in a reservoir inside the replica. BBs are loaded into individual shotgun-style shells, which retailers list as holding between one and three BBs each, and the shells are fed into the tubular magazine. Working the lever opens the action, throws out the fired shell, chambers the next and cocks the hammer ready for the next shot.
The shell ejection is a big part of the fun, but it does mean you will want to pick your shells up after each game, so a few spares in your kit bag are a good idea.
Build and handling
This version has faux wood furniture: a stock and forend made from polymer with a wood-effect finish. That gives the traditional look of a wooden-stocked shotgun while being lighter, more resistant to knocks and unaffected by damp. The long barrel and full-length layout give a longer sight line and a steady, front-weighted feel that suits deliberate, well-aimed shots.
Lever-action shotguns reward rhythm and timing. Practise working the lever smoothly and fully, as short-stroking it can cause feeding problems, and you will soon find a quick, satisfying cycle.
On the field
The M1887 comes into its own in woodland and around buildings at close to medium range, and it is guaranteed to draw attention at any site or themed event. It makes a characterful primary for Western games, film-themed days and players who simply want something different.

Compatibility
Use Golden Eagle M1887 shells for spares, as shells from other shotguns may not fit or eject reliably. Run it on airsoft green gas, never lighter fluid or butane, and use good quality seamless 6mm BBs. Golden Eagle’s other M1887 models are listed with shells and a hop-up adjustment tool; please check the product photos or contact us to confirm exactly what is supplied with this listing.
Care and maintenance
Put a drop of silicone oil on the fill valve before charging, fill with the replica upright and do not overfill. Store it with a small amount of gas inside so the seals stay supple, and keep it away from heat and direct sunlight.
Wipe the outside over after each game, keep the lever action lightly lubricated with silicone oil rather than petroleum-based oils, which can damage rubber seals, and clean the inner barrel occasionally with a rod and soft patch. Gather and check your shells after use, wipe them clean and dry, and store them with the shotgun.
Who is it for?
