Check that your battery will still fit: a slim handguard leaves less room than a standard front-wired setup, so a stock-wired rifle is often the easier match. Also check that your outer barrel, gas block area and any front sight will clear the new handguard.
Care and maintenance
Wipe the handguard down after games and brush mud, sand and leaves out of the cut-outs before they dry in. A soft brush and a little warm soapy water are enough; avoid harsh solvents that could mark the finish.
Check the clamp screws from time to time, as vibration and knocks can loosen them over a season, and re-tighten evenly without overdoing it. When storing the rifle, keep it in a padded bag so the finish is not scratched.
