Description
ACM 6mm Steel Bushings (6pcs)
This is a set of six ACM 6mm steel bushings for airsoft AEG gearboxes. Bushings sit in the gearbox shell and support the axles of the gears, and their condition has a direct effect on how smoothly and quietly the gears turn, how well they mesh and how long the gearbox lasts.
ACM is a budget-friendly brand covering a wide range of airsoft parts and accessories. A pack of six covers the three main gears in a typical gearbox, which have a bushing at each end, so one set is enough for a full replacement.
Why steel bushings?
Many standard gearboxes are fitted with plain sintered or soft metal bushings, which can wear oval over time, especially with stronger springs or high-voltage batteries. Worn bushings let the gears move out of line, which causes noise, uneven wear and eventually stripped teeth. Steel bushings are harder wearing and hold the axles firmly in place, which helps keep the gears properly aligned.
Plain bushings like these have no moving parts, so there are no small balls to fail under a sudden load, which is why many technicians favour solid bushings for durable builds.
Fitting
Fitting bushings means splitting the gearbox, so it is a job for someone confident working inside an AEG. Clean the bushing seats in the shell, press the new bushings in squarely and check that they sit flush. A tiny amount of glue designed for the purpose can help keep them from spinning in a worn shell. Add a little suitable grease to the gear axles, then check the gear shimming before closing the gearbox, as new bushings can change the spacing.
Key features
- Set of six 6mm bushings
- Steel construction (as named)
- Enough for the three main gears in a gearbox
- Harder wearing than soft sintered bushings
- No moving parts to fail
- Helps keep gears aligned
What’s in the box
- 6 x 6mm steel bushings
Compatibility
These are 6mm bushings. Gearboxes use different bushing sizes, commonly 6mm, 7mm, 8mm or 9mm depending on the design and manufacturer, and 6mm bushings will not fit a shell made for a larger size. Please measure the bushings in your gearbox, or check its specification, before ordering, and contact us with your replica’s make and model if you are unsure.
Care and maintenance
After fitting, run the gearbox on semi with no BBs for a few shots and listen for any grinding, which would point to a shimming issue. Keep gearbox grease light and clean, as too much grease attracts dirt.
Store spare bushings in a sealed bag so they stay clean and dry until they are needed.
Who is it for?
These bushings suit airsoft technicians and confident home builders who want a durable replacement for worn or soft bushings in a gearbox that takes the 6mm size.
Please note: Gearbox, tools and grease are not included. Fitting requires gearbox disassembly; if you are unsure, have the work done by an experienced technician.
