Description
Guarder Ball Bearings Spring Guide for Ver.3 Gearboxes
This Guarder spring guide is made for Version 3 AEG gearboxes, the type found in AK, G36 and many other popular rifles. It carries a bearing that allows the main spring to spin on the guide as it works, rather than winding up against it.
It is the Version 3 partner to Guarder’s Version 2 bearing guide, and is a common addition to a reliable or upgraded Version 3 build. The guide locates the back of the spring and keeps it straight, so it has a direct effect on how smoothly the piston moves.
Why a bearing helps
A compressed spring twists slightly. With a fixed guide, that twist is passed to the piston, adding friction and stress. A bearing guide releases the twist so the piston travels more freely, reducing wear and making the cycle smoother.
The benefit becomes more noticeable as spring strength goes up, so a bearing guide is often fitted alongside a new spring.
Fitting
Version 3 gearboxes generally need to be removed from the rifle and opened to change the spring guide. Remove the battery and make sure the spring is decompressed before opening the shell. Seat the guide correctly in its slot at the rear of the gearbox before closing it.
Key features
- Guarder bearing spring guide
- For Version 3 gearboxes
- Allows the spring to rotate freely
- Smoother piston travel
- Reduces wear on piston and gearbox
- Replaces worn or cracked guides
Compatibility
Made for Version 3 gearboxes; it will not fit Version 2. Check your rifle’s gearbox version and compare with the original guide, as some makers use non-standard parts.
Care and maintenance
Keep the spring and guide lightly greased with a suitable gearbox grease and check the bearing turns smoothly when servicing. Replace springs that have become noticeably shorter or kinked.
Store the rifle with the spring decompressed by firing a shot on semi (in a safe direction) before removing the battery.
Who is it for?
For Version 3 AEG owners and technicians who want smoother cycling and longer life from the spring and piston.
Please note: Spring guide only. Always wear suitable eye protection when testing a replica.
