Description
A&K MK46 MOD 0 (M249) Support Rifle (Tan – AK-249-MK46-P)
The A&K MK46 MOD 0 AK-249-MK46-P is an electric support weapon (AEG) modelled on the MK46, the lightened special operations development of the M249 light machine gun. This is the tan version, which suits desert and earth-toned loadouts. Other MK46 versions in black, tan and blue are also listed in our range, so please check the code and finish carefully before ordering.
A&K’s M249-family replicas are among the best known support weapons in airsoft, valued for their capacity and the authentic feel of the platform. The MK46 removes some of the fittings of the full M249 to save weight, which makes it more practical to carry around a site all day. It suits players who want to commit to the support role with an LMG that looks the part.
How it works
An AEG (automatic electric gun) uses a rechargeable battery to drive a motor, which turns the gears inside a gearbox to pull back and release a spring-loaded piston. Each cycle pushes a burst of air behind a BB. Because the power comes from the battery and spring rather than gas, performance stays consistent in cold weather, and running costs are low.
Build and internals
A&K’s MK46 replicas use a full metal gearbox with 8mm bearings and a short-type motor, an adjustable hop-up and a 14mm negative thread at the muzzle, with safe and full-auto fire modes. The -P suffix in the code is used on A&K’s polymer-receiver MK46 listings in our range, which keeps the weight down, but please check the product photos and ask us if the receiver material matters to you.
The MK46 feeds from a box magazine that winds as the gun fires, giving the high capacity a support gunner needs; please check the listing for the magazine supplied with this version.
The support role
Support gunners lay down sustained fire to pin opponents in place while teammates move. That means carrying plenty of ammunition, choosing positions with good arcs of fire and working closely with the rest of your team. A belt-fed style LMG on a bipod is the classic way to do it, and the MK46 is one of the most recognisable support weapons there is.
Many sites have specific rules for support weapons, such as rate-of-fire limits, minimum engagement distances or restrictions on box magazines, so please check with your site before bringing one to a game.

Care and maintenance
Disconnect and remove the battery after every game, and never store the rifle with the battery plugged in. Charge batteries with a suitable charger, never leave them charging unattended, and store them at a sensible storage charge somewhere cool and dry.
Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs, and keep the box magazine’s feed tube clean and free of dirt and broken BBs. Do not leave the box magazine’s batteries fitted during long storage. Clean the inner barrel regularly with a rod and soft patch, and wipe the gun down after wet or muddy games.
Who is it for?
Players committing to the support role who want a tan LMG to match desert or earth-toned kit.
Please note: A battery and charger are not listed as included. Box magazine and bipod details are not stated on this listing, so please check the product photos or ask us. Always wear suitable eye and face protection when using airsoft replicas, and check your site’s rules and power limits before play.
