Description
Amoeba by Ares Mutant AMM9 EFCS AEG (Tan – AM-M-003-DE)
The Amoeba Mutant AMM9 is a modular electric rifle (AEG) from Ares with the EFCS electronic gearbox, finished in tan (dark earth), code AM-M-003-DE. It is the longer of the two Mutant models in our range, and we also list it in black (AM-M-003-BK).
Retailer listings give the AMM9 a length of around 680 to 750mm depending on the stock setting and a weight of around 2.44kg, so it is still a light rifle while offering a little more length than the AMM7 for woodland and mixed sites. Amoeba is Ares’ sports-focused range, designed around practical, lightweight rifles that are easy to maintain. The Mutant series is built on a modular concept: retailer listings describe the outer barrel assembly, complete with inner barrel and hop-up, as quick to swap for a longer or shorter version by removing a retaining pin and two screws, so one rifle can be reconfigured for different sites.
Electronics and internals
Inside is Ares’ EFCS (Electronic Fire Control System) gearbox. Instead of mechanical trigger contacts, an electronic unit controls the motor, which gives a crisp trigger response, protects the electrics and allows the fire modes to be programmed. Retailer listings describe the gearbox shell as cast zinc alloy, with a quick spring release so the main spring can be changed without stripping the gearbox, and a high-torque flat motor.
The rifle runs on batteries from 7.4V to 11.1V. A 7.4V LiPo gives a sensible rate of fire with good trigger response, while 11.1V gives a faster rate of fire for players who want it; check the space available in your configuration before buying a battery. The safe, semi and full-auto modes can be customised with Ares’ programmer, for example to set a burst mode.
Build and handling
The receivers are described as nylon fibre with aluminium and metal parts, which keeps the AMM9 light and comfortable through a long day of play. The adjustable hop-up lets you tune the rifle for your BB weight, and the M4-style controls are familiar to most players, making the AMM9 quick to learn.
The extra length over the AMM7 gives a longer sight line for iron sights and more room on the handguard for a light, grip or laser, while still being easy to handle around buildings. Please check the product photos for the exact handguard and stock fitted to this tan version.

Care and maintenance
Disconnect and remove the battery after every game, and never store the rifle with the battery plugged in. Charge batteries with a suitable charger, never leave them charging unattended, and store them at a sensible storage charge somewhere cool and dry.
Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs, as poor or damaged BBs are the main cause of jams and hop-up wear. Clean the inner barrel regularly with a cleaning rod and a soft cloth, wipe the outside down after wet or muddy games, and keep the rifle somewhere dry between games.
Who is it for?
Players who want a light, modern AEG with electronic trigger control and a little more length than a compact carbine, and anyone who wants a rifle they can reconfigure for different sites.
Please note: A battery and charger are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection when using airsoft replicas, and check your site’s rules and power limits before play.
