Description
Ares Amoeba Octaarms Pro SR16 AEG with EFCS Unit (Full Metal – Tan – Short – AR-074)
The Ares Amoeba Octaarms Pro SR16 (AR-074) is an AR-style electric rifle in its Short configuration, finished in tan and fitted with Ares’ EFCS electronic firing control system. As named, this version has full metal construction. It brings together Ares’ engineering, the Amoeba range’s modern styling and Octaarms furniture in one well-specified rifle.
The SR16 profile is a classic modern rifle shape. The short configuration keeps the rifle compact and quick to handle, which suits CQB and mixed sites where you move between buildings and woodland. It is a sound choice for players who want a quality, electronically controlled rifle that they can keep and develop over time.
Build and materials
Full metal construction, as named, gives the rifle a solid, rigid feel and stands up well to regular skirmishing. The handguard gives your support hand plenty of room and leaves space for a torch, grip or bipod, while the top rail accepts your choice of optic.
The tan finish suits desert, coyote and earth-tone loadouts and makes the rifle easy to pick out from the black rifles in the safe zone. Please see the product photos for the exact handguard and stock.
EFCS electronics
Ares’ EFCS (Electronic Firing Control System) manages the gearbox electronically rather than relying on a purely mechanical trigger contact. That gives a sharp, consistent trigger response and reduces wear on the trigger components, and our Octaarms Pro SR16 listings describe Ares EFCS rifles as offering programmable firing options.
Because the electronics are central to how the rifle works, use a good, fully charged battery and have any internal work carried out by someone familiar with Ares systems. Please read the manual for the programming steps before your first game.
Getting started
Charge your battery on a proper charger and fit it following the manual. Load a magazine and test-fire at a safe backstop, starting with the hop-up off and bringing it up gradually until shots fly flat. A few minutes of zeroing makes a big difference to your confidence on the field.
Practise magazine changes and battery swaps at home, and have the rifle chronographed at your site before your first game.

Compatibility
Ares SR16 rifles are AR-pattern AEGs; Ares magazines are the safest choice, so check the fit of any other brand before game day. Use 20mm rail accessories on Picatinny sections and check the handguard’s attachment system before buying rail pieces.
Check the battery space and connector before buying a battery, and confirm with us before buying internal parts, as EFCS rifles have their own electronics.
Care and maintenance
Take the battery out after every game and store it away from the rifle at a sensible storage charge, and charge LiPo batteries only on a proper balance charger under supervision. Clean the inner barrel with a cleaning rod and a dry patch every few games, as dirt and broken BB fragments are the main causes of flyers, and stick to good-quality seamless BBs of a consistent weight.
Check screws, the flash hider and any mounts before each game day, and store the rifle somewhere dry. With an electronic trigger system, a fully charged battery in good condition helps the rifle read the trigger cleanly, so replace tired packs rather than running them flat.
Who is it for?
Players who want a compact AR-style rifle with modern Ares electronics, for CQB and mixed sites.
Please note: A battery, charger and BBs are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye protection, and full-face protection where your site requires it, when using or testing any airsoft replica.
