Description
Ares Amoeba Short Honey Badger with Extended Silencer (AM-014-BK – Blue)
The ARES Amoeba AM-014 is a compact, Honey Badger-styled AEG with a long integrated suppressor, giving it the look of a modern suppressed PDW. This is the blue version, a coloured edition of the rifle that is easy to spot among a team’s kit.
It pairs the Amoeba range’s lightweight polymer receiver with an alloy free-float hand guard that runs right over the suppressor, and drives it all with ARES’s EFCS metal gearbox. The result is a short, quick-handling rifle that feels at home in CQB but still has the sight radius and stability for outdoor use.
Build and layout
The receiver is polymer, keeping the weight sensible, while the modular hand guard, outer barrel and mock suppressor are alloy. The hand guard is free-floated and integrates the suppressor, which measures about 20.5cm by 4cm, so the barrel runs through it for a clean, uncluttered profile.
A multi-position sliding stock adjusts the length from about 665mm to 775mm, so you can keep the rifle short for buildings or extend it for a better shoulder position. Polymer flip-up front and rear sights are fitted, and the modular rails on the hand guard give room for a torch, grip or laser.
Performance and electronics
The EFCS metal gearbox includes a quick-change spring system, and the rifle is powered by a high-torque motor for a responsive trigger. The hop-up is adjustable, so you can set it up for the BB weight you prefer.
Fire modes are controlled by the EFCS. ARES’s separate Electronic Firing Control System Gearbox Programmer can set the selector to safe-semi-auto, safe-semi-burst, safe-burst-auto or safe-semi-semi, which is handy if your site restricts full-auto. The programmer is not included.
The magazine
The AM-014 is supplied with a 300-round high-capacity PMG-style polymer magazine. It has a non-functional magazine level window for a realistic look and a rubber foldable magazine plate that makes it easier to pull from a pouch.
Getting started
Before your first game, charge your battery fully on a suitable charger, fit it and check the rifle fires on safe, semi and auto as expected. Set the hop-up from zero, adding a little at a time until the BB holds a straight, flat line, and then check where it lands at the distances you usually shoot.
Your site will chronograph the rifle before play. Spend a few minutes learning how to change the battery and clear a jam so you are not doing it for the first time mid-game.

Compatibility
The rifle uses Amoeba PMG-style magazines and many M4-pattern AEG magazines should fit, but check fit and feeding with any non-ARES magazine. The modular rails on the hand guard accept compatible rail sections and accessories. The EFCS programmer is available separately from ARES. A battery is not listed as included, so check the battery space before choosing one; LiPo batteries suit electronic trigger systems best.
Care and maintenance
Remove the battery whenever you are not using the rifle, and never leave a LiPo charging unattended. Run a cleaning rod with a clean patch through the inner barrel regularly to keep accuracy consistent, and only use clean, seamless BBs of a decent brand.
After muddy or wet games, wipe the outside down and let the rifle dry naturally before casing it. Check that rails, accessories and the stock are tight, and have any gearbox work carried out by an experienced technician.
Who is it for?
The AM-014 is for players who like the suppressed PDW look and want a compact, modern rifle for CQB and mixed sites. Its programmable EFCS also makes it a good choice for anyone who plays at sites with semi-only or burst rules.
Please note: a battery, charger and the EFCS programmer are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection when using airsoft replicas.
