Ares Amoeba Striker Series Spiral Fluted Outer Barrel (Short – AS-OB-001-S)
This is a replacement outer barrel for the Ares Amoeba Striker series, part number AS-OB-001-S. It is the short version of Ares’s spiral fluted outer barrel, which gives the rifle the distinctive grooved look of a modern precision rifle.
The Amoeba Striker is Ares’s spring-powered bolt-action sniper rifle range, including the AS01 and AS02, and it is one of the most popular bolt-action platforms in airsoft thanks to its modern looks and upgrade-friendly design. A short outer barrel makes the rifle more compact and easier to handle in woodland and around buildings, while the spiral fluting keeps the custom look.
Design
Fluting cuts grooves into the outside of the barrel. On real rifles it saves weight and increases surface area; on an airsoft rifle it mainly gives a sharp, custom look, and a spiral pattern stands out from the straight fluting found on many factory barrels.
A long version of this barrel (AS-OB-001-L) is also listed. A European retailer lists the long one at 545mm with a 23mm clockwise muzzle thread; the length of this short version is not stated in our listing, so please check the product photos or contact us if you need an exact figure.
Fitting
Remove the magazine and make sure the rifle is decocked before starting. Remove the existing outer barrel following your rifle’s manual, transfer the inner barrel and hop-up components as required, fit the new outer barrel and reassemble, checking that everything sits straight and the fixings are snug.
A shorter outer barrel is usually paired with a shorter inner barrel, so check that your inner barrel length suits it before fitting. If you are unsure, have the work done by an experienced technician.

Care and maintenance
Wipe the barrel down after games and dry it before storage, particularly after wet or muddy days, to protect the finish. Keep the muzzle thread clean and free of grit, and fit a thread protector or muzzle device when the rifle is stored.
When the outer barrel is off the rifle, it is a good time to clean the inner barrel with a cleaning rod and a dry patch and check the hop-up rubber for wear. Do not use the outer barrel as a handle when carrying the rifle, and avoid over-tightening the fixing screws.
