Description

Ares Amoeba Tactical M4 AEG With Silencer (ARES-AM-004 – Blue)

The Ares Amoeba Tactical M4 with Silencer is a compact M4-pattern AEG from the Amoeba range, with a mock silencer built into the front end and Ares’s EFCS electronic gearbox inside. This is the AM-004 in blue, a coloured version of a rifle that is already one of the more distinctive M4s on the market.

Amoeba is Ares’s lightweight, modern-styled line, designed to give players proper electronic fire control at a sensible price. The integrated silencer gives the rifle a sleek, purposeful profile without adding much length, and the light nylon fibre body keeps it easy to carry all day.

Build and design

The Tactical M4 pairs a nylon fibre upper receiver and extendable stock with a CNC aluminium hand guard. The outer barrel is aluminium, with the silencer integrated into it, so it is neat and does not rattle loose. The rifle weighs around 2.2kg, which is light for an M4 and makes it a good choice for long game days.

The hand guard has two Picatinny rail sections and two hand stops, and there is a full top Picatinny rail on the upper receiver for optics. That gives you plenty of room for a red dot, a torch and a grip without needing extra mounts.

EFCS gearbox and performance

Inside is Ares’s EFCS (Electronic Firing Control System) gearbox, with a cast zinc alloy shell, a high-torque flat motor and a quick spring release. The electronic trigger can be adjusted to a very short stroke, and a gear sensor stops the gears in the best position to reduce stress on the spring and save battery power.

The EFCS also protects itself: if the gearbox locks, it cuts the power after five trigger presses and warns you. Out of the box the rifle fires on safe, semi and full-auto, and Ares sells a separate Electronic Gearbox Programmer that can customise the fire modes and set LiPo battery protection. A 6.03mm brass inner barrel and adjustable hop-up complete the internals.

Getting started

Fully charge a suitable battery before first use, then fit it as described in the manual and connect it carefully. Load a magazine, wind it if it is a high-capacity type, and start with the hop-up turned off. Fire a few shots at a safe target and add hop a little at a time until the BBs fly flat without rising at the end of their flight.

Have the rifle chronographed at your site before you play, and keep a note of the hop setting that suits your favourite BB weight so you can return to it quickly.

Compatibility

Amoeba M4 rifles take Amoeba M4 magazines, and many standard M4-pattern AEG magazines will also fit; try a magazine in the rifle before buying in quantity. The EFCS gearbox is Ares’s own design, so internal parts are not always interchangeable with standard Version 2 gearboxes; check compatibility before ordering upgrades. The Picatinny rails take standard 20mm accessories, and the EFCS is listed for 7.4V to 11.1V batteries, with a LiPo giving the crispest trigger response. Check the battery space and connector before buying a battery.

Care and maintenance

Take the battery out after every game and store it away from the rifle, and charge LiPo batteries only on a proper balance charger under supervision. Clean the inner barrel with a cleaning rod and a dry cloth patch every few games, as dirt and broken BB fragments are the main causes of flyers. Stick to good quality seamless BBs of a consistent weight.

Check screws, the flash hider and any mounts before each game day, and store the rifle somewhere dry. Leave the hop-up at a light setting in storage, and if the rifle has an electronic trigger unit, a fully charged battery helps it read the trigger cleanly.

Who is it for?

The Amoeba Tactical M4 with Silencer suits players who want a light, compact rifle with modern electronics and a clean, suppressed look, from newer players to experienced skirmishers who appreciate a programmable trigger. The blue finish adds a touch of individuality.

Please note: a battery, charger and the Electronic Gearbox Programmer are not stated as included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check your site’s power limits before play.
