Description
Ares M40-A6 Sniper Rifle (Spring Powered – MSR-026 – Tan)
The Ares M40-A6 (MSR-026) is a spring-powered, bolt-action sniper rifle in tan, styled on the modern M40A6 precision rifle. It combines a mainly metal build with a folding, highly adjustable stock, so it can be set up to fit you closely and folded down for carrying and storage.
Ares has a strong range of bolt-action rifles, and the M40-A6 gives you the look of a contemporary military precision rifle with practical features such as an adjustable hop-up and a rubberised grip. The tan finish suits desert and woodland ghillie set-ups and makes this a striking rifle for players moving into the sniper role.
Build and ergonomics
The rifle is built mainly from metal, and the black M40-A6 version is listed at around 3.35kg and 1040mm long. The stock folds to shorten the rifle for transport and adjusts to set the length of pull for your build and your kit, whether you are shooting prone, kneeling or standing.
A multi-surface handguard gives plenty of choice for where you hold the rifle and mount accessories, and the soft, rubberised pistol grip stays secure in wet or cold weather.
How it works
As a spring-powered bolt action, working the bolt compresses the spring and chambers a BB, and the trigger releases the piston to fire a single shot. There is no gas or battery to manage, so performance stays consistent in all weather.
The adjustable hop-up lets you tune backspin for heavier sniper BBs and flat, stable flight. A smooth bolt action helps you stay on target between shots, and the rifle is supplied with a 45-round magazine.
Getting started
Read the manual so you are familiar with the safety and loading. Load the magazine, work the bolt fully back and forward, and fire a few shots at a safe backstop with the hop-up off. Add hop gradually until the BBs fly flat at your usual engagement distance, then zero any optic to match.
Note the hop setting that suits your chosen BB weight so you can return to it, and have the rifle chronographed at your site before play.

Compatibility
Use Ares M40-A6 magazines. There is no battery or gas system to buy for. Heavier, high-quality sniper BBs get the most from the adjustable hop-up, and you should choose a scope and mounts that suit the rifle’s rail. Ares rifles use their own internal parts, so check that any upgrade parts are listed for this model.
Care and maintenance
Never store the rifle cocked, and avoid dry firing without a BB, as the piston can slam into the cylinder head without the cushion of a BB. Clean the inner barrel regularly with a rod and dry patch and use only clean, high-quality seamless BBs.
Wipe the metal parts with a lightly oiled cloth after wet games, store the rifle somewhere dry, and check the stock and mount screws before each game day.
Who is it for?
The tan M40-A6 suits players taking up the sniper or marksman role, anyone wanting a modern bolt-action rifle that can be adjusted to fit, and collectors of contemporary precision rifles.
Please note: Optics and BBs are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection when using or testing any airsoft replica. Check your site’s rules for sniper rifles, including minimum engagement distances, before play.
