Description
Armorer Works Custom Hi-Capa GBBP (Full Black Slide – Black Frame – Gold Barrel, AW-HX2002)
The Armorer Works Custom Hi-Capa AW-HX2002 is a gas blowback pistol from the HX20 Competitor series, finished with an all-black slide and frame set off by a gold outer barrel. It combines a full metal slide and upper frame with the enlarged grip, flared magazine well and ambidextrous controls of a modern competition pistol.
Armorer Works (often sold as AW Custom) is a Taiwanese maker with a strong following among pistol enthusiasts. Its Hi-Capa based pistols are known for crisp machining, competition-inspired styling and solid gas blowback performance straight out of the box. The black-on-black finish with a single gold accent gives it a subtler look than the silver models, and it suits players who want a capable, well-built main sidearm or a pistol for target and speed-shooting practice.
Build and design
The full metal slide and upper frame give the pistol a solid, rigid feel and a reassuring weight that helps keep the muzzle steady. The large grip is textured with a honeycomb pattern for a secure hold, and deep serrations front and rear on the slide make press checks and slide manipulation easy. The skeletonised trigger reduces weight and gives a short, positive pull.
Gas blowback performance
As a gas blowback pistol, it uses gas stored in the magazine both to fire each BB and to drive the slide back. Every shot gives a sharp, realistic recoil impulse and the hammer is re-cocked automatically, so follow-up shots are quick and the pistol feels lively in the hand. The slide locks back on an empty magazine, which is a useful reminder to reload.
Like every gas pistol, its performance is affected by temperature. On warm days it cycles briskly with green gas; on cold days pressure drops, so keep a spare magazine in an inside pocket and allow a few seconds between shots during rapid strings so the magazine can recover. The hop-up is adjustable, so you can tune it to the weight of BB you use and get a flat, consistent trajectory.
Handling and accessories
An ambidextrous thumb safety and working beavertail grip safety make the pistol equally comfortable for left- and right-handed shooters, and the high grip they allow helps manage recoil. The enlarged, flared magazine well makes reloads quicker and more forgiving. Fibre-optic sights are bright and quick to find, a red dot mount is supplied for fitting a compact optic, and the under-barrel rail takes a torch or laser.

Compatibility
Fires standard 6mm BBs; 0.20g to 0.25g BBs suit most gas pistols. Use the 31-round magazine supplied, or genuine Armorer Works Hi-Capa magazines; Hi-Capa style magazines from other makers often fit but are not guaranteed, so please check with us before buying spares.
The supplied mount lets you fit a compact red dot sight, and the under-barrel rail accepts standard pistol lights and lasers. Holsters for Hi-Capa pistols are the best starting point, but a mounted optic or light may need a dedicated competition holster. Use only gas made for airsoft guns; never use lighter fluid or butane.
Care and maintenance
Gas blowback pistols reward a little regular attention. After a day’s play, wipe the slide, frame and magazine down with a lightly oiled cloth to remove dust and moisture, and run a cleaning rod with a clean patch through the inner barrel every so often to keep accuracy consistent. Use only gas made for airsoft, and put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine fill valve and outlet seal from time to time to keep them supple and leak-free.
Don’t overfill the magazine; a short, steady fill is enough, and you will hear and see when it is full. For storage, leave a small amount of gas in the magazine to keep the seals pressurised, store the pistol and magazines at room temperature, and avoid leaving them in a cold car or direct sun. In cold weather keep spare magazines warm in a pocket, as gas pressure drops noticeably as temperature falls. Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs, as cheap or misshapen BBs are the most common cause of jams and hop-up wear.
Who is it for?
The HX2002 is a strong choice for players who want a well-made competition Hi-Capa with a darker, understated finish. It works as a primary sidearm, a pistol for practical shooting practice or a centrepiece for a collection.
Please note: Gas, BBs and spare magazines are not included unless stated above. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check the power and safety rules at your site before play.
