Description

Armorer Works Custom VX9 Series Gas Blowback Pistol (Black – VX9100)

The Armorer Works Custom VX9 is a compact gas blowback pistol in the popular polymer-framed, striker-style pattern, here in black under code VX9100. It pairs a metal slide and outer barrel with a polymer frame, which keeps the weight down while giving the slide a crisp, solid feel when it cycles.

Armorer Works (AW Custom) is a Taiwanese maker best known for its Hi-Capa and 1911 pistols, and the VX series is its take on the modern service pistol. The VX9 is a sensible choice for players who want a light, dependable sidearm that is easy to carry all day, or a first gas pistol that is simple to learn.

Build and design

The slide and outer barrel are metal, while the frame is polymer, just like the real pistols this design is based on. The grip covers, trigger and magazine release are plastic. A metal slide catch and disassembly lock add strength where it matters. At around 180mm long and about 664g with its gas magazine, it is compact and well balanced.

Fixed front and rear sights give a simple, rugged sight picture that will not get knocked out of alignment, and the pistol has safe and semi-automatic modes.

Performance

The VX9 runs on green gas and uses a 22-round metal gas magazine. The blowback is described as light, with crisp cycling that helps make follow-up shots quick and easy to control. The hop-up is adjustable, so you can set it to suit the BB weight you use.

A compact pistol like this suits CQB and woodland sidearm duties equally well, and its size makes it easy to holster on a belt, a thigh rig or a plate carrier.

Getting started

Fill the magazine with green gas in short bursts, holding the can upright, and let it settle for a minute. Load your BBs, fire a few test shots at a safe target with the hop-up off, and then add hop gradually until the BBs fly flat.

Have the pistol chronographed at your site before you play, and in cold weather keep spare magazines warm in an inside pocket.

  • Adjustable hop-up
  • Fixed front and rear sights

Compatibility

Use Armorer Works VX series magazines made for this pistol; magazines from other makers may not be interchangeable, so please ask us before buying spares. Holster fit depends on the slide shape and any accessories you fit, so check the holster maker’s compatibility list or ask us. Use only gas made for airsoft guns; never use lighter fluid or butane. 0.20g to 0.25g BBs suit most gas pistols.

Care and maintenance

Put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine’s fill valve and seals every few fills, and store magazines with a little gas in them so the seals stay tight. Do not overfill, and let magazines warm up to room temperature in cold weather rather than heating them.

Wipe the moving parts and the outer barrel with a thin film of silicone oil now and then, clean the inner barrel with a rod and patch, and use good quality seamless BBs. Never use petroleum-based oils on the seals.

Who is it for?

Ideal for players who want a light, compact and dependable gas sidearm in the modern polymer-frame style, and for newer players looking for a straightforward first pistol.

Please note: Gas and BBs are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection, and check your site’s rules and power limits before play.
