Description

Army Hi-Capa 5.1 Gas Blowback Pistol (R611 – Black)

The Army Armament R611 is a black gas blowback pistol built on the Hi-Capa 5.1 platform, the double-stack competition pistol design that has become one of the most popular in airsoft. Retailers describe the R611 as an XL-style 2011-type pistol with a ported slide and a stippled grip, giving it a modern competition look.

Army Armament produces a wide range of Hi-Capa and 2011-pattern pistols, and the R611 is one of its competition-styled models. It suits players who want a fast-handling, good-looking sidearm for skirmishing or practical shooting games, and owners who like a pistol that can be personalised with the wide range of Hi-Capa parts available.

Build and design

According to retailer listings, the R611 has a CNC-machined ported slide, a polymer grip with hand-stippled texture, front and rear serrations on the slide, a flared magwell for faster reloads, an integrated lower accessory rail and a fibre optic front sight. Retailers also list an ambidextrous safety, so left- and right-handed shooters can operate it comfortably. Please check the product photos for the exact details of the version supplied.

Performance

As a gas blowback pistol, the R611 uses gas stored in the magazine to fire each BB and drive the slide back, which cocks the hammer and loads the next round. That gives a satisfying recoil and a realistic manual of arms. Retailers list a 28-round gas magazine, which is a generous capacity for a pistol and means fewer reloads in a game.

The Hi-Capa platform is known for its adjustable hop-up and its crisp single-action trigger, which make it a natural choice for accurate shooting. Gas pistols are affected by temperature, so they perform best when warm; keep spare magazines in an inside pocket on cold days.

Customisation

One of the strengths of the Hi-Capa platform is the huge range of compatible upgrade and cosmetic parts, from grips and triggers to inner barrels and hop-up rubbers. Fit can vary slightly between makers, so check that a part is listed as compatible with Hi-Capa pistols, and ideally with Army Armament models, before ordering.

Key features

  • Army Armament Hi-Capa 5.1 pistol, model R611
  • Black finish
  • CNC ported slide (per retailer listings)
  • Hand-stippled polymer grip (per retailer listings)
  • Flared magwell for faster reloads
  • Integrated lower accessory rail
  • Fibre optic front sight
  • Ambidextrous safety (per retailer listings)
  • 28-round gas magazine (per retailer listings)

Compatibility

The R611 uses Hi-Capa pattern gas magazines. Army Armament magazines are the safest choice for spares; many other Hi-Capa magazines will fit, but test a spare before relying on it in a game. The lower rail accepts compact pistol lights and lasers, and holsters must suit a 5.1-length slide and any accessory fitted. Check the manual for the recommended gas.

Care and maintenance

Put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine’s fill valve and seals every few fills, and store magazines with a little gas in them so the seals stay seated. Do not overfill, and in cold weather let magazines warm up naturally rather than heating them.

Wipe the slide rails and outer barrel with a thin film of silicone oil now and then, clean the inner barrel with a rod and soft patch, and use good quality seamless BBs. Never use petroleum-based oils on the seals, and keep the pistol and magazines away from heat and direct sunlight.

Who is it for?

Players who want a competition-styled Hi-Capa with a modern ported slide and a generous magazine capacity, whether for skirmishing, practical shooting games or as the basis of a custom build.

Please note: Gas and BBs are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection when using airsoft replicas, and check your site’s rules and power limits before play.
