Can I buy this? This is a realistic replica (RIF). UK law needs a valid defence to buy one, usually UKARA registration, which you get by playing three games over two months at one site. No UKARA? See two-tone versions: you just need to be 18 or over. Questions? Ask us.

Description

Bolt PMC-Q DS (BRSS Recoil – Tan)

The Bolt PMC-Q DS is an electric airsoft rifle from Bolt Airsoft fitted with the company’s B.R.S.S. recoil system, here in tan. Bolt is a Taiwanese manufacturer whose whole range is built around recoil, and its rifles are a favourite with players who want the feel of a gas blowback rifle without the cost of gas or the drop-off in cold weather.

The PMC-Q DS name suggests a compact, PMC-style configuration; please see the product photos for the exact handguard, stock and muzzle set-up. It suits players who want a lively, recoiling main rifle that still behaves like a dependable AEG. The tan finish suits desert and earth-tone loadouts and stands out from the black rifles in the safe zone.

The BRSS recoil system

Bolt’s B.R.S.S. (Bolt Recoil Shock System) uses a weight driven by the gearbox to produce a strong recoil impulse on every shot, which gives an electric replica a heavy, gas-like kick. It is one of the strongest recoil systems used in electric airsoft, and it is the main reason players choose Bolt.

Because the recoil is generated electrically rather than by gas, it does not fade on a cold British winter morning, and there is no gas to buy. You get the immersion of a recoiling rifle with the reliability and low running costs of an AEG. A recoil system adds moving mass, so check screws, the stock and any optic now and then.

Handling and set-up

Recoil rifles reward a firm, consistent hold. Pull the stock well into the shoulder, keep a steady cheek weld and let the rifle settle between shots, and you will find follow-up shots come quickly despite the kick.

Choose optics that are built to withstand recoil and mount them securely; a robust red dot is the usual choice for a compact rifle. Start with 0.20g to 0.25g seamless BBs and bring the hop-up in gradually until shots fly flat, then note the setting so you can return to it.

On the field

A compact recoiling rifle is at home in CQB and woodland alike. It is short enough to move through buildings comfortably and, with a well-set hop-up, capable of reaching out across a typical woodland site. The recoil also gives you a clear sense of each shot, which many players find helps them shoot more deliberately.

Key features

  • Bolt Airsoft recoil AEG
  • B.R.S.S. heavy recoil system
  • Gas-like kick without gas costs
  • Consistent performance in cold weather
  • Compact PMC-Q DS configuration, as named
  • Tan finish

Compatibility

Bolt recoil rifles have their own gearbox layout, so internal upgrade parts should be listed for Bolt B.R.S.S. replicas. Magazine fit can vary between makers and with recoil systems; please check with us which magazines suit the PMC-Q DS before buying spares, and test any new magazine before game day.

Check the battery space and connector before buying a battery. Rail accessories and optics should be sturdy enough for a recoiling rifle and fitted firmly.

Care and maintenance

Take the battery out after every game and store it separately at a sensible storage charge, rather than leaving it connected inside the replica. Charge LiPo batteries with a proper balance charger, keep them in a LiPo-safe bag and never leave them charging unattended; NiMH packs should be charged with a smart charger that stops when the pack is full.

Run a cleaning rod with a lightly dampened patch through the inner barrel from time to time to clear dirt and residue, which keeps the hop-up consistent. Use good-quality seamless BBs, never reuse BBs that have been on the ground, and wipe the outside over after damp or muddy games. Leave gearbox work, shimming and spring changes to a competent technician.

A recoil system adds extra movement inside the receiver, so check screws and fittings regularly and tighten anything that has worked loose. Use the battery type the manufacturer recommends, as an overpowered pack can add wear to a recoil gearbox.

Who is it for?

The PMC-Q DS in tan is for players who want a compact, recoiling electric rifle with a real sense of kick, for CQB and woodland use, without the cost and cold-weather limits of gas.

Please note: A battery, charger and BBs are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye protection, and full-face protection where your site requires it, when using or testing any airsoft replica.
