Description
Breakaway Fastlink Clips
Breakaway Fastlink Clips are among the most widely used quick-change links and lead clips in British sea fishing. They are designed to be safe and strong, even for anglers who cast hard with heavy leads, and they come 10 per packet.
A Fastlink lets you attach and remove a lead or a rig in seconds, without cutting and retying. That means you can change lead weight as the tide or weather changes, swap from a plain lead to a grip lead, or put on a fresh rig after a fish, all with minimum fuss. For beach anglers who make their own rigs, it is one of the most useful components you can carry.
How they are used
The most common use is at the bottom of a rig body, where the Fastlink holds the lead. It is also used as a quick link between your shock leader and a rig, so you can clip different rigs on and off. Breakaway’s small Imp bait clips are designed to fit into a Fastlink, allowing you to clip down a bait right at the lead for extra casting distance.
Safety when casting
Powerful casting puts a lot of strain on a lead link, and a link that opens or fails can send a lead flying. Fastlinks are designed with that in mind. Always check that the link is properly closed before every cast, and use a shock leader of the right strength for the lead weight you are casting.
