Description
D|Boys M4 V2 QD Rear Wired Gearbox (Metal)
This D|Boys gearbox is a metal version 2 (V2) unit for M4-type AEGs, with QD rear wiring as the name states. The V2 is the most common gearbox design in airsoft, used in M4/M16, MP5 and many other rifles, so a V2 gearbox is a useful repair part for a wide range of replicas.
QD (quick-detach) rear wiring makes it easier to strip the rifle, as the stock can be removed without fiddly soldered connections getting in the way.
What QD rear wiring means
In a rear-wired M4, the battery sits in the stock or buffer tube and the wires run back from the gearbox to it. A QD (quick-detach) wiring setup uses connectors at the rear of the gearbox, so you can separate the gearbox from the stock wiring without cutting or desoldering.
That makes it quicker to take the rifle apart for maintenance, swap stocks or fit a different battery setup.
Why replace the gearbox
Fitting a complete gearbox is often quicker than tracking down a single faulty part, especially if the old shell is cracked or several parts are worn. It is also a good way to keep a favourite M4 running if you play regularly.

Compatibility
Designed for M4-type AEGs using a rear-wired V2 gearbox. Although V2 is a common standard, small differences exist between brands in the trigger, selector and hop-up interface, so check your rifle and the product photos before ordering. Rifles wired to the front (handguard battery) will need rewiring or a different gearbox.
If you are unsure, send us your rifle’s make and model and we will help confirm compatibility.
Care and maintenance
Before fitting, check that your replica’s model matches the gearbox and keep track of any screws and parts you remove. Fit the gearbox in a clean, well-lit space and take photos as you strip the old one so you can refer back to them.
Once fitted, use a fully charged battery of a suitable voltage, avoid long full-auto strings that overheat the motor, and listen for unusual noises that suggest a problem. If you are not confident working on AEG internals, have the gearbox fitted by an experienced technician.
Who is it for?
This gearbox suits M4 owners repairing a worn or damaged rifle, home techs who like having a spare V2, and players converting to rear wiring.
Please note: A motor, battery and fitting are not mentioned as included; check the product photos for exactly what is supplied.
