Description
G&G AEG L85 AFV with ETU (TGL-L85-AFE-BBB-NCM)
This is G&G’s L85 AFV AEG with an electronic trigger unit (ETU), code TGL-L85-AFE-BBB-NCM. The L85 is the British Army’s SA80 bullpup rifle, and the AFV (armoured fighting vehicle) variant is a shortened version designed for vehicle crews, which makes it a particularly compact and characterful replica.
G&G is a respected Taiwanese manufacturer with a strong reputation for reliable AEGs, and its L85 series is a favourite with British players and reenactors. The AFV with ETU combines that iconic British look with modern trigger electronics.
Bullpup layout
In a bullpup, the action and magazine sit behind the trigger, in the stock. That lets a bullpup keep a useful barrel length in a much shorter overall package than a conventional rifle, which is a real advantage when moving through buildings, vehicles and dense woodland.
Because more of the weight sits towards your shoulder, a bullpup tends to feel balanced and easy to hold on aim for long periods. Reloads take a little practice, as the magazine is further back than on a conventional rifle, so it is worth running through some magazine changes at home before a game.
Electronic trigger unit
The ETU replaces traditional mechanical trigger contacts with electronic switching. In general this means less wear at the trigger, a crisper response and better protection for the electrics, particularly when running LiPo batteries. Check the manual supplied with the rifle for any programmable features on this version.
On the field
The AFV’s very short length makes it superb for CQB, vehicles and dense woodland, and its distinctive profile is instantly recognisable as British. It is also a natural choice for anyone building a British forces impression.
Accessories worth adding
A few extras make a big difference to any AEG. A spare magazine or two means less time reloading, a sling makes carrying the replica comfortable over a long day, and a red dot or low-power optic helps you place shots accurately at range. If you play in buildings, a rail-mounted torch is invaluable for clearing dark rooms. Finally, a speed loader makes refilling magazines quick and tidy between games.

Compatibility
Retailer listings for G&G’s L85 models describe them as accepting standard M4-style AEG magazines, which makes spares easy to find; try one before buying a full set, as magwell tolerances vary. Check the battery space and connector before buying a battery, and confirm parts compatibility with us or a technician before upgrading.
Care and maintenance
Take the battery out after every game and store it separately, at a sensible storage charge, rather than leaving it connected inside the rifle. If you use LiPo batteries, charge them with a proper balance charger and keep them in a LiPo-safe bag, and never leave them charging unattended.
Run a cleaning rod with a lightly dampened patch through the inner barrel from time to time to remove dirt and residue, which helps keep the hop-up consistent. Use good-quality seamless BBs, never reuse BBs that have been on the ground, and wipe the outside over after damp or muddy games. Leave gearbox work, shimming and spring changes to a competent technician.
Who is it for?
The L85 AFV suits British players and reenactors who want an authentic-looking SA80, and anyone after a very compact bullpup for CQB and woodland.
