G&G Complete Gearbox for L85
This is a complete replacement gearbox for the G&G L85 AEG. The L85 is the British Army’s bullpup service rifle, and G&G is among the manufacturers that have produced an airsoft version of it. In a bullpup the gearbox sits behind the trigger, in the stock, and its gearbox is specific to the design.
If the gearbox in your L85 has failed, a complete factory replacement is often quicker and more economical than sourcing and fitting individual parts. It is also a useful spare for anyone who runs an L85 as their main rifle and wants to be able to swap gearboxes rather than lose a day’s play.
When to replace the whole gearbox
Signs of gearbox trouble include the motor spinning without the gun firing, grinding or clicking, the gun locking up, or a sudden loss of power. Where several parts are worn or the shell is damaged, a complete gearbox is usually the simplest repair. Individual G&G L85 parts such as the sector gear and tappet plate are also listed separately for smaller repairs.
Fitting
Remove the battery and magazine first. Bullpup rifles need more disassembly than conventional AEGs to reach the gearbox, so take photos at each stage, keep screws and small parts in a tray, and note how the wiring and trigger linkage are routed. After fitting, test the trigger and selector, check the motor height and chronograph the rifle before taking it to a game.

Care and maintenance
Use good-quality seamless BBs and a suitable battery. Fire a shot on semi-auto before storing so that the spring is not left compressed, and disconnect the battery when the gun is not in use. Keep the inner barrel and hop-up clean, and have the gearbox checked if you notice a change in sound, trigger response or rate of fire.
