Description

Golden Eagle M870 Tri-Shot Gas Pump Action Shotgun (Short – Tan – M8873)

The Golden Eagle M870 Tri-Shot is a gas pump-action shotgun in the style of the famous M870, here in tan, listed as the short version under code M8873. Every pump and trigger pull sends a spread of BBs downrange, making it a hard-hitting choice for close-quarters games.

Golden Eagle is known for affordable, well-made gas shotguns and pistols, and its M870 series is one of the most popular airsoft shotgun lines. The tan finish suits coyote and desert loadouts and stands out from the usual black shotguns.

How the tri-shot system works

Golden Eagle’s tri-shot system fires three BBs from three barrels with every pump-and-pull, giving a tight cluster rather than a single shot. A selector inside lets you switch to a six-BB mode for a heavier spread when clearing rooms. BBs are loaded into Golden Eagle M870-series shells, each holding about 30 BBs, and one shell is loaded into the shotgun at a time.

The shells only carry BBs: the gas reservoir is built into the shotgun itself, so there is no need to fill each shell with gas. Golden Eagle’s M870 series runs on green gas or 134a, and the hop-up is fixed and set at the factory.

On the field

A pump-action shotgun is all about rhythm: pump, aim, fire. It is ideal for indoor sites, buildings and dense woodland, where engagements are close and a spread of BBs gives you a better chance of a hit. Practise working the pump smoothly and reloading shells quickly, because that is what keeps you in the fight.

Check your site’s rules on shotguns, as some have specific limits on multi-shot replicas.

Getting started

Fill the shotgun’s gas reservoir following the manual, in short bursts. Load BBs into a shell with a speed loader, insert the shell, work the pump and fire a few shots at a safe target to learn the spread at your usual distances.

Carry spare loaded shells in a pouch so you can reload quickly, and have the shotgun chronographed at your site before play.

Key features

  • Gas pump-action shotgun in the M870 style
  • Golden Eagle tri-shot system: three BBs per shot
  • Selectable six-BB mode
  • Shells hold about 30 BBs
  • Gas reservoir built into the shotgun
  • Runs on green gas or 134a
  • Fixed, factory-set hop-up
  • Tan finish
  • Listed as the short version

Compatibility

The shotgun runs on green gas or 134a. It uses Golden Eagle M870-series shells, and spare shells are a sensible early purchase so you can reload quickly between engagements. Standard 0.20g BBs suit the fixed hop-up. Accessories for the rail and stock should be checked against this exact model before buying.

Care and maintenance

Fill the gas reservoir with the shotgun at room temperature and do not overfill. Put a drop of silicone oil on the fill valve now and then to keep the seal supple, and store the shotgun with a little gas in the reservoir.

Wipe the pump, receiver and barrel with a lightly oiled cloth after use, keep shells clean and dry, and use good quality seamless BBs, as dirty or damaged BBs can jam a multi-barrel system.

Who is it for?

Ideal for CQB and indoor players who want a hard-hitting, affordable pump-action shotgun, and for anyone running tan or desert kit who wants a shotgun to match.

Please note: Gas, BBs and spare shells are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection, and check your site’s rules on shotguns before play.
