Description
Lancer Tactical LTX Competition Gas Blowback Airsoft Pistol
The Lancer Tactical LTX Competition is a gas blowback pistol with a race-gun look. It combines a ported, lightened slide with an optics-ready cut and a threaded barrel, so it is ready to take a red dot and a muzzle device from the start. It is a fast, modern sidearm for skirmish days, and a capable pistol for speed shooting and target practice.
Lancer Tactical has built a strong following for well-specified, affordable replicas. We also stock the LTX Competition in an FDE and black colour scheme; please check the product images for the finish of this version.
Build and design
A UK retailer listing for the LTX Competition (FDE and black version) describes the slide, outer barrel and controls as alloy, on a high-density polymer frame with a steel slide lock. The slide is ported and weight-reduced, with front serrations for press checks, and comes with an optics plate fitted. Adapter plates are listed for several common red dot footprints: RMR, Docter, STS2 and Shield RMS.
The same listing gives a 14mm counter-clockwise male thread on the outer barrel, protected by a polymer thread protector, and a 20mm Picatinny rail under the frame for a light or laser. It quotes a weight of about 457g and a length of about 21.5cm.
Performance and internals
The listing gives a 6.03mm inner barrel of 113mm and an adjustable TDC hop-up, which is set from the top of the slide behind the optic plate with the slide locked back. It describes a selector for safe, semi and full automatic, with a layout it compares to the Glock 18C, and a magazine of about 25 rounds for green gas.
In a gas blowback pistol the magazine holds both the BBs and the gas. When you pull the trigger, the hammer strikes a valve in the magazine and releases a burst of gas: part of it sends the BB through the hop-up and down the barrel, and the rest drives the slide back, cocking the hammer and loading the next BB as the slide returns. The result is a pistol that cycles and recoils much like the real thing.
Handling and getting started
Iron sights are fitted for use without an optic, and the listing describes a trigger safety plus an ambidextrous safety and slide lock. Lancer notes that the pistol needs lubricating before first use.
Before the first game, read the manual so you know the controls and the safety arrangement. Fill the magazine with the gas the manual recommends in short bursts, holding the can upright, and let it settle for a moment. Load BBs, fire a few shots at a safe backstop with the hop-up off, then add hop gradually until the BBs fly flat.
Full auto empties a magazine very quickly and uses gas just as fast, so it is best kept for short bursts. Many sites have their own rules on automatic fire from pistols, so check before you play.

Compatibility
The optics plate system is designed for red dots with RMR, Docter, STS2 and Shield RMS footprints, per the retailer listing. The 14mm CCW thread takes most airsoft tracers and silencers made for that thread. Use magazines made for the LTX and test any spare before relying on it in a game.
Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs and the gas recommended in the manual.
Care and maintenance
Put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine’s fill valve and seals every few fills, and store magazines with a little gas in them so the seals stay tight. Do not overfill, and in cold weather let magazines warm up naturally rather than heating them. Wipe the slide rails and moving parts with a thin film of silicone oil now and then, clean the inner barrel with a rod and patch, and use good quality seamless BBs. Never use petroleum-based oils or solvents on seals, and store the pistol unloaded and dry.
Who is it for?
The LTX Competition is for players who want a fast, optics-ready sidearm with a competition look, and for anyone who enjoys speed shooting and target practice with a lively gas blowback pistol.
Please note: Gas and BBs are not included. Always wear suitable eye protection when using any airsoft replica, and have it chronographed at your site before play.
