Description
Laylax Prometheus EG Barrel for M14 Exclusive (6.03mm – 420mm)
This Laylax Prometheus EG Barrel is a 6.03mm tight bore precision inner barrel, 420mm long, listed for M14-pattern AEGs. Prometheus is the internal upgrade brand of the Japanese company Laylax, and the EG barrel is one of its best-known products, made in a long list of lengths so each replica can take a barrel cut for it.
A US retailer lists a 420mm Prometheus EG barrel for the Tokyo Marui M14 family. We also list a 500mm M14 EG barrel, because M14 replicas differ in barrel length between models and makers. Measure the inner barrel in your rifle before choosing which one to order.
Build and bore
EG barrels are made from stainless steel, and Laylax quotes a bore tolerance of plus or minus 0.01mm for the series. Stainless steel is stiff and resists corrosion, so the bore stays straight and smooth for a long time, which matters on a rifle often used in a marksman role.
A 6.03mm bore leaves a slightly smaller gap around a 6mm BB than a looser stock barrel. Less air escapes past the BB, which helps efficiency and shot-to-shot consistency once the hop-up is set correctly.
Fitting
Remove the battery and magazine, then strip the rifle to reach the barrel and hop-up unit. Slide the old barrel out, move the hop-up rubber across or fit a new one, keeping the lip even and the window aligned with the hop-up nub, and reassemble. Set the hop gradually with the BB weight you use, then have the rifle chronographed, as a tight bore can change power.

Compatibility
Listed for M14 AEGs that use a 420mm inner barrel. Because M14 replicas vary, measure your existing inner barrel and check your hop-up unit before ordering; if yours is 500mm, choose our 500mm M14 version instead. The hop-up rubber is not listed as included.
Care and maintenance
Clean the bore before fitting with a cleaning rod and a dry, lint-free patch, and repeat every few games or whenever groups open up. Keep oil out of the barrel and off the hop-up rubber.
Use clean, seamless BBs of a consistent weight, as damaged or dirty BBs are the main cause of jams in tight bore barrels. If a BB lodges, push it out gently with a rod rather than firing more BBs behind it.
Who is it for?
It is for M14 owners with a 420mm barrel who want a precise, durable stainless steel barrel at the heart of their rifle.
Please note: Hop-up rubber not listed as included. Have your replica chronographed after fitting. If you are not confident stripping an M14, have the barrel fitted by a technician.
