Description
NGT 450g Butane / Propane Gas Canister
This NGT 450g butane/propane canister is a disposable fuel cartridge for compatible camping stoves and other gas appliances. It is an everyday item for anyone who cooks or brews up outdoors, and a sensible spare to keep with your bivvy, camping or fishing gear so you never run out halfway through a trip.
The 450g size gives plenty of fuel for longer sessions and weekends away, meaning fewer canister changes than smaller cartridges and less to carry in spare canisters. It is a popular, good-value line in our Thetford shop.
Butane and propane mix
Pure butane works well in warm weather but struggles to vaporise as temperatures drop. Blending propane with butane helps the gas perform more consistently in cooler conditions, which is useful for early-morning brews on the bank or camping in spring and autumn. In very cold weather any canister will lose some pressure, so keeping it in your sleeping bag or a warm pocket for a while before use can help.
Using it safely
Before connecting the canister, check that your stove or appliance is designed to take this type of cartridge. Connect it outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, away from naked flames, and make sure the fitting is seated correctly with no smell of gas. Never use a gas stove inside a closed tent or bivvy, as there is a serious risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and fire.
