PTS by Magpul Masada GBB Rifle (14.5in, Dark Earth)
The PTS Masada GBB is a gas blowback airsoft rifle styled on the Magpul Masada, the adaptable carbine design that later became the ACR. This version has a 14.5-inch outer barrel and a Dark Earth finish. PTS (Professional Training Systems) worked with Magpul on the replica, so the external details follow the real rifle closely.
Gas blowback rifles give a real sense of recoil and a working bolt with every shot, which makes them popular with players who value realism and with anyone training manipulation drills. The Masada’s modern design makes it a distinctive alternative to M4-pattern GBB rifles.
Build and design
Redwolf Airsoft lists the Masada GBBR in Dark Earth with a polymer body and the rest of the rifle in metal, an overall length of about 815mm and a net weight of about 3.46kg. That gives a substantial, balanced feel that suits realism-focused play.
The Masada design was created to be adaptable, with a modern lower and an upper that houses the operating system. The Dark Earth finish suits coyote and desert-toned loadouts.
Gas system and internals
The same listing describes short-stroke internals with no buffer tube, so the bolt is shorter than a standard M4 bolt, and a system 7-2 hop-up unit that is adjustable. Fire modes are semi and full auto. The trigger unit is listed as made by Mega Arms and modified to be heavier, and the listing notes that the fire selector may feel stiff until it wears in.
The rifle runs on green gas or top gas designed for airsoft use. Redwolf warns that lighter fluid or butane should never be used, as it will cause permanent damage.
Magazine
The listing gives the PTS 38-round EPM magazine, a gas magazine that looks different from the AEG version and is described as more reliable than the previous KWA gas magazine. Keeping two or three magazines filled and warm in a pouch is the best way to keep a GBB rifle running through a game.

Compatibility
Use PTS Masada gas magazines; AEG magazines and other makers’ GBB magazines will not work. Our shop also stocks Laylax Prometheus EG inner barrels made for the PTS Masada (318mm and 380mm); please check the length that suits your rifle with us before ordering upgrades.
Use only gas designed for airsoft replicas, as recommended in the manual. Rails take standard 20mm accessories.
Care and maintenance
Use the gas recommended in the manual and fill magazines in short bursts without overfilling. A drop of silicone oil on the magazine fill valve and seals now and then keeps them supple, and magazines are best stored with a little gas in them so the seals stay seated. Gas performance drops in cold weather, so keep spare magazines warm in a pouch or pocket on chilly days.
Gas blowback rifles have more moving parts than electric replicas, so keep the bolt carrier and nozzle lightly lubricated with a suitable silicone product and wipe away grit after each game. Run a cleaning rod through the inner barrel occasionally, use clean seamless BBs only, and store the rifle unloaded somewhere cool and dry.
