Description

SHS 100:200 Low Noise Torque Up Gear Set for Gearbox V2/3 AEG Gen.3 (CL14014)

This is an SHS torque-up gear set for Version 2 and Version 3 AEG gearboxes, listed as a 100:200 ratio, low-noise, third-generation (Gen.3) set with the code CL14014. A gear set replaces the spur, bevel and sector gears, the three gears that turn the motor’s spin into the force that pulls the piston back.

SHS (Super Shooter) is one of the most widely used makers of AEG internal parts, and its gear sets are a popular choice for rebuilds and upgrades because they offer a big step up from many factory gears at a sensible price. A torque-up set is aimed at builds that need more pulling power, such as rifles running a stronger spring for longer-range or DMR-style use.

Torque versus speed

Every AEG gear set is a trade-off between rate of fire and the force available to pull the spring. A speed set spins the sector gear faster for a higher rate of fire, while a torque set lowers the speed in exchange for more pulling force. A torque-up set like this one helps the motor cope with a stronger spring and can reduce strain on the motor and battery in a heavier build.

The usual approach is to match the gears to the rest of the build: a torque set paired with a suitable motor and spring gives a crisp, reliable cycle without overloading the electrics.

Low noise

SHS describes this set as low noise. Quieter gears are welcome in any rifle, but they are especially useful in sniper-style and DMR builds, where a loud gearbox can give away your position. A properly shimmed gear set will always run quieter and last longer than one that is simply dropped in, so careful shimming is worth the time.

Fitting

If you are not confident working inside a gearbox, have the part fitted by an experienced airsoft technician. Opening a gearbox means dealing with a compressed spring and a lot of small parts, and incorrect shimming or reassembly is the most common cause of noise and early wear.

Use the correct size bearings or bushings for your shell, re-shim the new gears from scratch rather than reusing old shims blindly, and set the motor height so the pinion meshes cleanly with the bevel gear. Check the product images to compare the teeth with your existing pinion before fitting.

Key features

  • SHS (Super Shooter) gear set
  • 100:200 torque-up ratio (as listed)
  • Described as low noise
  • Gen.3 design
  • For Version 2 and Version 3 gearboxes
  • Complete set of spur, bevel and sector gears
  • Suits builds running stronger springs
  • Code CL14014

Compatibility

Listed for Version 2 and Version 3 AEG gearboxes, which covers M4/M16, MP5, G3, AK and many other platforms. Gear sets must mesh correctly with your motor pinion, so check whether your pinion matches the bevel gear teeth shown in the images (straight-cut or helical). SHS also sells other 100:200 sets; a European retailer lists one with helical teeth and CNC steel parts for M120 to M170 springs, but we cannot confirm that listing is this exact Gen.3 low-noise version.

Match the set to your motor, spring and battery, and ask us if you are unsure which ratio suits your build.

Care and maintenance

Use a good quality gear grease sparingly on the teeth and a light oil on the axles or bearings; too much grease attracts dirt and can slow the gears. Listen for changes in sound, which often point to a shimming problem or a worn part.

Always store an AEG with the battery disconnected and, where possible, fire a single shot on safe ground at the end of the day to decompress the spring.

Who is it for?

Airsoft technicians and confident home builders upgrading a V2 or V3 gearbox for more torque, particularly for DMR, sniper-style or high-spring builds where quieter running is a bonus.

Please note: Gears only; gearbox, motor and shims are not included unless shown. Always wear suitable eye protection when testing airsoft replicas.
