Umarex HK416A5 Gas Blowback Rifle (VFC – Tan)
This is the officially licensed Heckler & Koch HK416A5 gas blowback rifle (GBBR), made by VFC for Umarex and finished in tan. It is one of the most popular gas rifles in airsoft, combining H&K’s licensed markings with VFC’s well-regarded gas system. Our range also lists the black version.
The HK416A5 is the modern evolution of the HK416, with an ambidextrous lower receiver and a free-floating rail. For airsoft players it offers a realistic manual of arms, from the reciprocating bolt carrier to bolt lock on an empty magazine, which makes it a favourite for milsim and training-style play. It suits experienced players and anyone ready to move up from an AEG to a gas rifle.
How a gas blowback rifle works
Each magazine holds its own gas. When you pull the trigger, part of the gas fires the BB and the rest drives the bolt carrier back, cocking the hammer and loading the next round, so you feel a recoil impulse with every shot. When the magazine is empty the bolt locks back, prompting a reload just as on the real rifle.
Gas rifles are more sensitive to temperature than electric rifles, so performance falls on cold days. Many players keep spare magazines in an inner pocket in winter and keep bursts short.

Compatibility
The HK416A5 uses VFC/Umarex HK416 gas magazines; AEG magazines and magazines from other gas rifle systems will not work. Our range includes an H&K HK416A5 and M4 gas magazine by Umarex/VFC; check that any spare magazine is listed for this system. The rail takes standard 20mm accessories and the 14mm CCW thread accepts most airsoft suppressors and tracers.
Care and maintenance
Lubricate the magazine fill valve and seals with silicone oil every few fills, store magazines with a little gas in them, and never overfill. Gas blowback rifles cool down quickly in cold weather, so keep spare magazines warm and allow time between bursts.
Wipe the bolt carrier and other moving parts with a thin film of silicone oil, clean the inner barrel with a rod and patch, and use good quality seamless 6mm BBs. Keep the rifle and magazines away from heat and direct sunlight, and store them somewhere dry.
