Description
Vortex 660 Fixed Spool Reel
The Vortex 660 is a fixed spool reel built for everyday coarse, carp and light sea fishing. It brings together the features that make a reel pleasant to use on the bank: a smooth multi-bearing retrieve, an alloy spool, a large power handle and a one-way clutch, with a spare spool included so you can carry two line strengths.
It is a sensible, versatile reel for anglers who want one reel to cover a range of fishing, or for those building up a second or third set-up without spending a fortune.
Smooth and powerful
With 6 ball bearings, the Vortex 660 winds smoothly and evenly, which helps when you are retrieving lures or feeders and when playing fish. The large power handle gives you plenty of leverage, so you can wind steadily against a hard-fighting fish or a heavy feeder. The one-way clutch provides instant anti-reverse, so there is no back-play in the handle when you strike.
Line lay and spools
The oversized bail arm helps lay line neatly on the alloy spool, which in turn helps with casting distance and reduces tangles. The supplied spare spool means you can load two different lines, for example a lighter line for float fishing and a heavier one for feeder or sea work, and swap between them in seconds.

Compatibility
Fits standard rod reel seats. Pair it with a rod suited to the type of fishing you plan to do, and load the spool with line appropriate for the rod’s casting weight and your target species. Fill the spool to just below the lip for the best casting.
Care and maintenance
After sea fishing, rinse the reel gently in fresh water, never under a strong jet, and let it dry fully before storing. Back the drag off when the reel is not in use to protect the drag washers. A drop of reel oil on the handle knob and bail arm pivot now and then keeps everything running smoothly. Store it in a reel case or bag to keep grit out.
Who is it for?
Coarse, carp and light sea anglers who want a smooth, well-equipped all-round reel with a spare spool, at a sensible price.
