WE M4 CQB-R Gas Blowback Rifle (R002 – Blue)
The WE M4 CQB-R is a gas blowback rifle modelled on the short-barrelled close quarter battle receiver carbine, with a quad rail front end and the compact proportions that make the CQB-R such a popular build. This is the R002 in blue, a coloured version that stands apart from the usual black rifles.
WE (WE-Tech) is one of the leading names in gas blowback rifles, and its M4 platform is known for strong, realistic recoil and a good supply of spare parts. A gas blowback rifle gives a much more lifelike experience than an AEG, with a moving bolt, working controls and a satisfying kick with every shot.
Build and design
WE’s CQB-R uses a metal receiver, outer barrel and rail system, with a polymer stock and pistol grip. The quad rail hand guard gives four rail surfaces for lights, grips, lasers and other accessories, and there is a rail on the upper receiver for an optic.
The short barrel and adjustable stock make the CQB-R quick to handle in buildings and dense woodland, and well balanced for fast target transitions.
How it works
Each shot uses gas from the 30-round magazine to fire the BB and drive the bolt back, so the rifle cycles and recoils much like the real thing. The hop-up is adjustable, and the rifle fires on semi and full-auto.
Gas rifles are at their best in mild to warm weather. In the cold, gas pressure falls and you will get fewer shots and less blowback, so keep magazines warm and consider a gas suited to lower temperatures.
Getting started
Fill the magazine with green gas in short bursts, holding the can upright, and let it settle for a minute before use. Load BBs, insert the magazine, pull the charging handle fully back and release it, and fire a few test shots at a safe backstop with the hop-up off. Add hop gradually until the BBs fly flat.
Gas rifles perform best at moderate temperatures. In cold weather keep spare magazines warm in an inside pocket, and expect fewer shots per fill. Have the rifle chronographed at your site before play.

Compatibility
Use WE M4 GBBR magazines; magazines from other gas rifle makers are often not compatible, so check before buying spares. Make sure any parts you buy are listed for the WE M4 GBBR system, as WE’s internals differ from other makers’. The rails take standard 20mm accessories. Use green gas or a gas recommended by WE for the conditions you play in.
Care and maintenance
Lubricate the magazine fill valve and seals with silicone oil every few fills, and store magazines with a little gas in them so the seals stay tight. Never use petroleum-based oils or lubricants on seals.
After each game day, wipe the bolt carrier and moving parts with a light film of silicone oil, check for dirt in the upper receiver, and clean the inner barrel with a rod and patch. Use good quality seamless BBs, keep the rifle dry, and have the nozzle and bolt inspected if performance drops.
