The Well D12 is an electric replica of the AK-74 rifle, finished in black and supplied with a battery and charger. Because everything needed to power the rifle is in the box, it is one of the easiest ways to get started in airsoft with a recognisable, classic rifle.
The AK-74 is the 5.45mm successor to the AK-47, with a slimmer silhouette and the distinctive muzzle brake. Well has a long history of making affordable replicas, and the D12 is aimed squarely at new and budget-minded players who want a dependable AEG without having to buy extra power equipment.
Design and handling
The D12 follows the classic AK-74 outline, with a fixed stock, pistol grip and handguard, and the traditional AK controls: a large safety and selector lever on the right of the receiver and a paddle magazine release behind the magazine well. The familiar rock-in magazine change quickly becomes second nature.
The black finish gives the rifle a modern Russian look that goes with most loadouts, and the simple layout makes it easy for newer players to learn.
Battery and charger included
Unlike many rifles, the D12 comes with a battery and charger, so you can start practising as soon as the battery is charged. Read the manual and follow the charging instructions carefully: charge on a non-flammable surface, never leave the battery unattended while charging, and unplug it once it is full.
As you gain experience you may want to upgrade the battery. If you do, check the battery space in the rifle and use the same connector type, or fit a suitable adaptor, before buying.
Getting started
Before your first game, charge your battery fully on a suitable charger, fit it and check the rifle fires on safe, semi and auto as expected. Set the hop-up from zero, adding a little at a time until the BB holds a straight, flat line, and then check where it lands at the distances you usually shoot.
Your site will chronograph the rifle before play. Spend a few minutes learning how to change the battery and clear a jam so you are not doing it for the first time mid-game.

Compatibility
Magazine fit varies between budget AK replicas, so please ask us or check the manual before buying spare magazines. Use good quality 6mm BBs; 0.20g BBs are a sensible starting weight for an entry-level rifle.
If you buy a different battery later, check its size against the battery space and make sure the connector matches the rifle.
Care and maintenance
Remove the battery whenever you are not using the rifle, and never leave a LiPo charging unattended. Run a cleaning rod with a clean patch through the inner barrel regularly to keep accuracy consistent, and only use clean, seamless BBs of a decent brand.
After muddy or wet games, wipe the outside down and let the rifle dry naturally before casing it. Check that rails, accessories and the stock are tight, and have any gearbox work carried out by an experienced technician.
