Description
WSB Silver Wedge – 21g
The WSB Silver Wedge is a compact, streamlined metal lure in a 21g size. Its shape makes it ideal for long casting, and on the retrieve it gives off vibrations that imitate an injured fish, triggering the hunting instinct of predators.
Wedges are a staple lure for sea anglers fishing from beaches, piers, harbour walls and rock marks. They are simple to use, cast a long way and catch a wide range of species, which is why most sea anglers carry a few in different weights.
How it works
The wedge shape packs a lot of weight into a small, aerodynamic body, so it flies a long way and gets out to fish feeding well beyond lighter lures. On the retrieve it moves with a tight, vibrating action, and the silver finish flashes like the scales of a small baitfish. Predatory fish key into that flash and vibration, as it looks and feels like an easy meal.
Using it
Cast out as far as you can and let the wedge sink before starting to retrieve. A steady, fairly fast retrieve keeps it working high in the water for fish chasing baitfish near the surface, while a count-down and slower, jerky retrieve searches deeper water. Mackerel and bass are classic targets, but a wedge will also pick up pollack, garfish and other species. At 21g it is a good all-round size for general spinning rods.
Key features
- Compact 21g silver wedge
- Streamlined for long casting
- Vibrating action imitates an injured fish
- Silver finish flashes like a baitfish
- Suits beach, pier, harbour and rock fishing
- Simple and effective for beginners and experienced anglers
Compatibility
Fish it on a spinning or light bass rod with a casting weight that covers 21g. A swivel or snap link helps reduce line twist and makes lure changes quicker. Also available in a lighter 11g size for lighter rods and closer range.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the wedge, hooks and any snap links in fresh water after every sea session and let them dry fully before storing them to slow corrosion. Check the hook and fittings before every trip and replace anything that is rusty, bent or blunt. A quick polish brings back a dulled silver finish.
Who is it for?
For sea anglers targeting mackerel, bass and other predators from the shore, and a sensible choice for newcomers who want a straightforward lure that casts well and catches.
Please note: Take care when handling hooked lures, and carry pliers or a disgorger for unhooking.
