The NGT Electric USB Rechargeable Boilie Grinder takes the hard work out of crumbing baits. Instead of bashing boilies in a bag or using a hand-cranked crusher, you drop them in, press the button and let the motor turn them into crumb. The result is an even, fresh crumb ready for PVA bags and sticks, spod mixes and Method feeders.

NGT make affordable, practical carp gear, and this grinder is a good example: it runs from a built-in 1200mAh rechargeable battery with USB charging, so it is completely cordless. You can prepare crumb at home before a trip, or carry it in your bag and make fresh crumb in the swim whenever you need it.

How it works

Inside the grinder, a set of three sharp blades driven by the 35W motor chops and slices the bait as it spins. Load a handful of boilies, put the lid on and hold the button until you have the texture you want: short bursts give a coarser crumb with some larger pieces, while a longer run gives a finer mix that packs tightly into PVA mesh. The motor is designed to cut out if it is overloaded, which helps protect it if you put in too much bait at once.

Using it on the bank

Fresh crumb gives off more attraction than crumb that has been sitting in a bucket for days, so being able to make it in the swim is a real benefit. Crumb your hookbait-matching boilies for a tight PVA stick, mix crushed boilies with pellets and liquids for a spod mix, or blend them into your Method mix to add a little extra flavour. Compatibility

Suitable for standard boilies, as well as many pellets and other hard baits. Very hard or frozen baits should be allowed to soften a little first, and it is better to grind several small batches than to overfill the chamber. The USB charging means it works with most phone chargers, car USB sockets and power banks.

Care and maintenance

Charge the battery fully before first use and before each trip. After use, separate the sections and carefully remove the blades, then brush or wipe out any crumb and bait oils. Take care when handling the blades, as they are sharp. Make sure every part is completely dry before reassembling and storing it, and keep water away from the motor housing and charging port. Do not leave the battery completely flat for long periods; give it a top-up charge every so often if the grinder is not being used.
