Description
Quick Release Beads – Large
These large quick release beads allow you to change your hooklength quickly, without cutting and retying, and also act as a shock bead to protect your knot when using feeders and running rigs.
The large size suits heavier feeders and set-ups for bigger fish, where a bigger, more robust bead is useful. Being able to change hooklengths in seconds means you can respond to changing conditions, switch hook size or replace a damaged length with the minimum of time out of the water.
How to use them
Fit the bead onto your mainline as part of your feeder or running rig and tie it in place. Tie a loop in the end of your hooklength and clip it into the bead. To change, release the hooklength and attach a new one. Tying a selection of hooklengths at home and storing them in a rig wallet makes changes on the bank even faster.
Shock bead function
On a running rig, the feeder or lead slides down the line during the cast and when a fish is hooked. The bead sits between the feeder and the knot, absorbing the impact so the knot is not weakened.
Tips
Use a hooklength slightly lighter than your mainline, so that if you are snagged only the hooklength is lost and your feeder is recovered. When fishing for bigger fish, check the hooklength for abrasion after every fish and swap it out if it feels rough; with a quick release bead, that takes only a moment.
