WSB Bite Alarm

Description

WSB Bite Alarm

The WSB Bite Alarm gives you an audible warning when a fish picks up your bait, so you do not have to stare at your rod tip for hours on end. It is a practical addition to any set-up where rods are left on rests for long periods, from carp and specimen fishing to ledgering and night sessions.

Bite alarms let you relax, prepare bait, sort tackle or take a break while still knowing the moment a fish moves off with your hookbait. They also make night fishing far more practical, when watching a rod tip or indicator in the dark is difficult.

How it works

The alarm mounts on a bank stick or rod pod and the rod rests across it, with the line running over the sensor. When a fish takes the bait and the line moves, the alarm sounds. Paired with a bobbin or swinger hanging on the line between the reel and the alarm, it shows both runs, where a fish moves away from you, and drop-backs, where it moves towards you and the line falls slack.

Setting up

Position the alarm at the front and a rear rest at the butt so the rod sits level and steady. Set your line tight enough that small movements register, clip on an indicator, and make sure the reel is set to give line, either with a free-spool mechanism or a loose drag, so a fish can run without pulling the rod in. Check the alarm’s settings and operation as described in the instructions supplied.

• Mounts on a bank stick or rod pod

Compatibility

Fits threaded bank sticks and rod pods; check that yours are threaded before ordering. Works with standard rear rests, bobbins and swingers (not included). Check the packaging for the battery type required.

Care and maintenance

Remove the battery if the alarm will not be used for a while, as a leaking battery can damage the contacts. Wipe the alarm dry after rain or heavy dew, and avoid dropping it into water or mud. Keep it in a padded pouch or the original box in transport. Rinse off any salt spray after sea or estuary fishing and let it dry fully before storage.

Who is it for?

For carp, specimen and ledger anglers who want a reliable audible signal when a fish takes, and for anyone starting out with longer sessions or night fishing.

Please note: Bank sticks, rod pods, bobbins and batteries are not included unless shown on the packaging.
