Description
WSB Dinomax Kayak 2.7
The WSB Dinomax Kayak 2.7 is a short rod designed for fishing from kayaks and small boats, where a long rod would be awkward to use and store. At 2.7ft long, it is easy to handle in a seated position, simple to stow while you paddle and manageable when bringing fish alongside.
The Dinomax Kayak rods are aimed squarely at anglers who fish afloat. This is the shorter of the Dinomax Kayak models, for anglers who want the most compact rod possible.
Using it from a kayak
Very short rods are ideal for fishing directly below the kayak with baits, jigs or feathers. At 2.7ft, this rod keeps everything within arm’s reach and gives you excellent control when a fish is brought to the side. It is especially handy in narrow sit-in kayaks and for jigging close to the hull.
A short rod keeps the tip within reach, so unhooking, re-baiting and netting fish are much easier without stretching and upsetting the balance of the kayak. It also makes it easier to fish two rods, one in a rod holder and one in hand, without the rods getting in each other’s way.
Key features
- Short rod for kayak and small boat fishing
- 2.7ft length
- Easy to handle from a seated position
- Compact for storage on a kayak
- Suits vertical jigging and bait fishing below the boat
Compatibility
Pair it with a compact fixed spool or small multiplier reel that balances the short blank. Braid is a popular choice for fishing below a boat because it has very little stretch and shows bites clearly; add a mono or fluorocarbon leader for abrasion resistance. Check that your kayak’s rod holders take the rod’s handle comfortably.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the rod and reel seat in fresh water after every sea trip and let it dry before storing. Check rod rings for cracks or grooves regularly, as a damaged ring can cut line. Use a leash on the kayak so the rod cannot be lost overboard, and store it in a rod sleeve to protect the blank and rings in transit.
Who is it for?
Kayak and small boat anglers who want a compact, practical rod that is easy to use and stow in a confined space.
Please note: Reel and line are not included.
