Description
WSB Impact Clear 12lb
WSB Impact Clear is a clear monofilament line with a 12lb breaking strain. WSB designed it for anglers who want a strong, durable mono with good abrasion resistance, and it offers a strong diameter to breaking strain ratio together with very good knot strength.
Clear line is less visible in the water than coloured lines, which can help when fish are wary or the water is clear. At 12lb, Impact Clear is a versatile all-round strength for carp, feeder, predator and light sea fishing.
Build and performance
Abrasion resistance matters whenever your line is likely to rub against gravel, mussel beds, rocks, weed or a pier wall. Impact Clear is made to stand up to that kind of wear, so it keeps its strength for longer during a session. The 0.28mm diameter is slim for a 12lb line, which helps with casting distance and makes the line less obvious to fish, while strong knot strength means less of the line’s rated strength is lost at the knot.
Where to use it
Use it as a main line for carp fishing on commercials and open waters, for feeder fishing at range for tench and bream, and for spinning and light shore fishing at sea. It also makes a tough hooklength or leader for bigger fish. As with any monofilament, it has a little stretch to absorb sudden lunges and help prevent hook pulls.
Key features
- 12lb breaking strain
- 0.28mm diameter
- Clear colour for low visibility
- Good abrasion resistance
- Strong diameter to breaking strain ratio
- Very good knot strength
- Suitable as main line or hooklength
Compatibility
Suits medium sized fixed spool reels on carp, feeder, spinning and light bass rods. A 4oz spool holds plenty of line, enough to fill several reels or to re-spool more than once.
As a rule of thumb, choose a hooklength a little lighter than your main line, so that if you do get snagged the break happens at the hooklength and you do not lose your feeder or lead.
Care and maintenance
Nylon monofilament is tough, but heat and sunlight are its main enemies. Store spare spools in a cool, dark place, and avoid leaving loaded reels on a car dashboard or in a hot shed. At the start of every session, run the last few metres through your fingers and cut back any section that feels rough, flattened or kinked.
Always moisten knots with water before pulling them tight, as friction heat can weaken the line at the knot. Retie after landing a big fish or pulling free from a snag. If you fish in the sea, rinse your reel and spool in fresh water afterwards and let it dry naturally. Take old line home and cut it into short lengths before binning it, so it cannot trap birds or wildlife.
Who is it for?
For carp, feeder and sea anglers who want a tough, clear, abrasion resistant 12lb mono on a generous spool at a sensible price.
