Description
WSB P.V.A String
WSB P.V.A String is a water-soluble string used to present a small amount of free bait right next to your hookbait. Tie on a stringer of boilies or pellets, cast out, and within minutes the string dissolves and leaves a neat little pile of bait around your hook.
PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) dissolves in water but stays strong while dry, which makes it one of the most useful bits of kit in a carp or specimen angler’s bag. String is the simplest and most versatile form of PVA, and a spool goes a long way.
How it works
As soon as PVA string gets wet it softens and then dissolves completely, releasing whatever it was holding. That means you can cast a few free offerings attached to your rig, and they will be sitting right by your hookbait once the string melts. It is a much more accurate way to feed than catapulting or throwing bait, particularly at range or into a small gap in weed or overhanging trees.
Ways to use it
The classic use is a boilie or pellet stringer: thread three or four baits onto a length of string with a baiting needle, tie off the ends and attach the string to the hook bend or lead. PVA string can also be used to tie a small PVA nugget onto the hook, to hold a hair-rigged bait in place on the cast, or as a dissolving stop to keep a lead or hooklength in position until it reaches the bottom. It is also handy for tying hooklengths up so they do not tangle on the cast.
Key features
- Water-soluble PVA string
- Ideal for boilie and pellet stringers
- Leaves free offerings right by the hookbait
- Can be used as a dissolving stop or rig tie
- Accurate way to feed at range or into small gaps
- Compact and easy to carry
Compatibility
Use with dry baits only, such as boilies, hard pellets and dry particles. Wet baits, sloppy groundbait, oily or liquid-based glugs will start to melt the string before you cast; check that any bait dip or liquid you use is PVA friendly. A baiting needle (not included) makes threading stringers much easier.
Care and maintenance
Keep PVA string completely dry until you use it. Store it in an airtight bag or tub, ideally with a sachet of silica gel, and handle it with dry hands. Avoid leaving it in a damp bag, a humid car or near your bait tubs, as moisture in the air can soften it and make it stick together. Replace the lid or seal the bag straight after use.
Who is it for?
For carp, tench, barbel and specimen anglers who use boilies or pellets, and for anyone wanting a simple way to put a little free bait around their hook.
Please note: Baits and baiting needle are not included.
